SSMC achieved World Class Quality Performance & received Global Performance Excellence Award

SSMC is honored to receive the Global Performance Excellence Award (modeled after the US Malcom Baldrige Performance Excellence Award), highest honour, the World Class Award, at the opening ceremony of the 20th Asia Pacific Quality Conference, which was held in KLCC Malaysia on 23-26 Nov 2014. The conference was organized by Malaysia Productivity Corporation in collaboration with Asia Pacific Quality Organization, who promotes and recognizes quality circle best practices and Business excellence.

SSMC is riding the IoT Megatrend, shared in WMMT 2014 workshop

On 21 Nov 14, Workshop on Microelectronics Manufacturing Trends (WMMT) 2014, organized by ITE (Institute of Technical Education) and iMaps (international Microelectronics And Packaging Society), was held in ITE, Mr. Jagadish CV, CEO of SSMC was invited to the keynote speaker addressing to a hall of 160 audience. In the theme of Internet of Thing Era, Jagadish plotted the exciting semiconductor megatrend and tremendous growth potential in triggered by the IoT landscape.

CNN features SSMC in global sustainability TV program

In 24 Sept, SSMC is being featured as the exemplary Industry user of NEWater which is part of the special story of CNN Sustainability TV program that studies trends of Future Cities – Singapore is one of the 5 global case studies being showcased. A short clip of our CEO interview and our water treatment plant is aired within the programs of CNN News Stream and CNN News Room this month.

SSMC received Community in Bloom Awards 2014 from Singapore National Parks

The “fruits” of SSMC Eco-Garden was recognized by the Singapore National Parks, and we are proud to be nominated for “Community In Bloom Awards 2014”. Gardening Interest Group is one of the latest initiative formed in SSMC. In 2013 Q4, SSMC Garden was officially opened during SSMC EHS week. In Aug, we are much honored to receive the Bronze award certificate presented by Mr. Kenneth Er, CEO of National Parks.

Keep Singapore Clean: Hot Spot to Bright Spot Program

On 15 August 2014, SSMC contributed to Singapore SG50 Community Challenge by hosting the “Hot Spot to Bright Spot Program” at Pasir Ris. This program, initiated by Public Hygiene Council (PHC), a subsidiary of National Environment Agency (NEA), aims to improve the hygiene condition of the identified frequently littered areas (known as “Hot Spots”) and turn them into “Bright Spots”, by demonstrating the right behaviours and creating awareness and exerting social influences.

SSMC won WSH Performance Silver Award 2014

On 18 Jul, the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Award Ceremony was held in Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Grand Ballroom; SSMC is proud to be one of the 60 companies receiving the WSH Performance Silver Award. 3 years in a row SSMC has been honored to win the WSH Performance Silver Award. This award recognizes SSMC’s continuous effort in achieving excellence in workplace safety and health performance; and is given by Workplace Safety and Health Council and Ministry of Manpower of Singapore.

An Excellent Pathway to Success

SSMC is featured in the Business Times on 14 July, as part of Spring Singapore’s Business Excellence (BE) 20th Year Anniversary celebration article. Mr. Jagadish, is one of the 3 CEOs (from electronic, banking and logistic industries) who shared their BE journeys; and insights on the BE framework’s positive impacts on productivity, competitiveness as well as sustainable and quality growth for their organizations.

SSMC participated in 2014 21st IPFA conference

On 02-04 July, our Product and Test Engineering Failure Analysis (PTE FA) expert, Seah Pei Hong, represented SSMC to present in the 2014 21st International Symposium on the Physical & Failure Analysis of Integrated Circuit (IPFA) conference in Marina Bay Sand, Singapore. Her paper title is “Application of Scanning Capacitance Microscopy on SOI Wafer in Die-level Failure Analysis”. Also, another SSMC PTE FA engineer, Chng Kheaw Chung participated in "Art of FA photo contest", and won 3rd prize with his “White Christmas” FA photo.

SSMC's energy saving efforts broadcasted in Ch8 News

Once again, SSMC was featured in Channel 8 for innovative electricity saving. The news was broadcasted on 1 Jun ‘14. Through new technology initiatives like LED lighting and pump, SSMC achieved total saving of more than S$1 Million per year. This enables us to be cost efficient and stay ahead of competition

SSMC highlights its Water Efficient Journey at SIWW 2014

Singapore International Water Week 2014 took place on 1 to 5 Jun, Mr. Jagadish, CEO of SSMC, was one of the invited speakers at the industrial water solution forum, held on 4 Jun. The forum focused on Water Interdependencies and Opportunities for Industrial Sectors. Companies from Chemicals & Refining, Pharmaceutical, Electronics and Mining participated; over ~200 global water leaders and practitioners from both public and private sectors were gathered.

SQA SC Model: We have to Nurture Staff like Plants

The Foundation of Thailand Productivity Institute (FTPI) held a seminar in April 2014 at Thailand Quality Award 2013 - Award Presentation and Winner Conference. The FTPI invited Mr. Jagadish CV, CEO of SSMC from Singapore to speak on the topic of “Leading Business Excellence: Strategic Transformation to be the World’s Leader”. SSMC values people as the precious resources of innovation in driving the company. He commented, “We need to nurture staff like plants which we will grow together with them. “Together We Raise Value” would encourage the staff to be confident in their abilities…”

SSMC Awards 6 Companies at 2014 Supplier Day

On 9 May 2014, SSMC held its Supplier Day to pay tribute to 6 suppliers who made a significant impact to SSMC’s competitiveness in 2013. Materials, parts repair and maintenance suppliers were present among 40 participants including our management team who participated the celebration dinner. Out of more than 200 suppliers from around the world in the fields, these best-of-the best 6 suppliers are recognized for their Outstanding performance in 3 award categories.

SSMC shared in 2014 Business Excellence Conference

On 27th Mar, in the 2014 Business Excellence (BE) Awards Winners Sharing Conference organized by Singapore SPRING, Singapore Quality Award (SQA) Governing council.
