On 25 Nov, SSMC received a Supplier Partnership Award from the global leader in converged communications such as VoIP, DECT Phone and Smart Home IoT solutions. This is to recognize 13 years of outstanding support in their journey of product transformation since 2006, the dedicated account management service as well as the operational performance. SSMC is motivated to hear about the exciting opportunities ahead and is committed to bringing our partnership to greater heights!
On 1 November 2019, SSMC received double awards at the Community Garden Edible Competition 2019. SSMC is pleased with the harvest this year. Our Eco-gardeners, Mike and Melvin managed to clinch the 1st and 3rd place for the heaviest papaya respectively, weighing 2.98 kg and 2.47 kg. Once again, they showcased SSMC’s passion in cultivating a sustainability culture and supporting environment conservation as part of SSMC’s Eco-Vision.
On 1 November 2019, SSMC was delighted to be part of the Electronics Industry Day organized by JTC Corporation. SSMC hosted about 40 students for the company tour. Some students had a go with wafer handling in L.E.A.N Centre, a simulated fab environment. The other students had the chance to go on a fab tour. With “Value People” as part of our core values, we are happy to inspire the younger generation with this experience to gain an insight on the Semiconductor Industry.

On 22 October, SSMC received an Outstanding Supplier Award presented by our Taiwan-based customer. This is to recognize our 11 years of long-standing support and dedicated service for the production for their high performance USB Hub Controllers. Throughout the years, SSMC is proud to serve them as a world leader in USB Solutions.
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) PEAK is a one month leadership program that grooms high-caliber NTU students into industry-relevant future leaders. SSMC is honored to be part of it. 7 young talents from NTU understudied our SSMC mentors for a month. At the end, they showcased creative ideas to peers and senior management of the participating companies. The Award Ceremony then marked the end of NTU PEAK and SSMC congratulates them in completing this journey successfully.
4 October 2019 marked the Annual SSMC Day. It was a day of fun and laughter with a Pool Ball competition, food goodies and a lucky draw. The day also focused on self-nurturing, team bonding and talent recognition while giving back to the society by supporting massage services offered by people with disabilities. The event ended with a celebration of our efforts in nurturing our future talents through awarding the Singapore-Industry Scholarship and also our trainers with recognition awards.
SSMC held it’s TRANSFORM & NIQC Convention over 2 days, 5 – 6 September 2019. 32 teams (240 participants) from both the Engineers and Operators categories participated this year. They presented innovative ideas to improve quality, productivity and cost efficiency. These fresh ideas can help SSMC to innovate and allow the company to constantly transform itself on a regular basis. The Transform initiative is also a key aspect of SSMC’s business excellence blueprint.
SSMC is featured in an article published on 4 September 2019 – “A Blueprint for Achieving Superior Excellence” in The Business Times, South-East Asia’s leading financial daily. SSMC is known as the role model in building a culture of continuous improvement based on the Business Excellence framework. SSMC leveraged the framework to propel themselves to greater heights and keep in line with the company’s Vision, Mission and Values.
On 30 July 2019, SSMC received the SkillsFuture Employer Award 2019, presented by Mdm Halimah Yacob, the President of Singapore. This Award recognises SSMC’s efforts in offering all employees skill-upgrade opportunities and structured career pathways, bringing out their best potential. Empowering employees with skill upgrades is the only way to deal with the fast-changing world where change is the only constant.
On 7 June 2019, Mr. Jagadish CV, CEO of SSMC, was invited as a keynote speaker in the Spotlight program of “Tapping Technologies” during the Singapore International Water Week. He talked about “Our Journey towards Corporate Sustainability” and shared with 250 local and international industrial water users and water practitioners his perspectives on how Semiconductor Industry can reduce water footprint.
On 4 June 2019, SSMC held its first ever in-house Supplier Transform and celebrated Supplier Day with an award presentation dinner. Supplier Transform is a platform that allows suppliers to share their innovations to support SSMC in delivering the highest product quality. Supplier Day award dinner celebration is to recognize suppliers’ responsiveness, flexibility, good technical support, productivity and cost saving efforts in enhancing the overall quality creation of SSMC.
The beach clean-up activity on 5 April 2019 allowed our employees to reflect on how our habits and actions can affect the cleanliness of the beach, ocean and marine life. At the same time, we are glad to be able to inspire our partner school to take responsibility by cleaning the beach for all to enjoy.
On 4 April 2019, We are honoured to have Dr Amy Khor (Senior Minister of State for Health & Environment & Water Resources) to grace the launch of SSMC’s Sustainability Week – an exciting lineup of workshops and fun-filled activities with our community partners. Together, we advocate our climate actions and efforts to be ZERO Waste nation.
On 4 April 2019, SSMC achieved 9 millionth wafer shipment in spite of a more challenging market environment. This success is not possible without the strong partnership with all of our customers. SSMC is ready to win together with our customer in many more millionth wafer shipment milestones to come.
On 10 April 2019, SSMC was featured on Mediacorp Suria Channel in the Current affairs TV programme, Detik. Jagadish CV, CEO of SSMC and Hanif Mohamed, Director of HR were interviewed on how SSMC succeeded in becoming a big water saver in the semicon industry. Also, making every drop count with the community.
On 11 Jan 2019, SSMC showed our support to Government’s efforts, under the Adapt and Grow Initiative, to help Singaporeans grow their skills and adapt to changing job demands. SSMC shared our success story on how we are preparing the PCP workforce to be equipped for the future in the Industry 4.0 smart manufacturing landscape. SSMC’s efforts were endorsed by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
