SSMC's "Adopt a Wish" program with Orphanage in Batam, Indonesia

On 22 Dec 2012, SSMC extended its community care outreach to under privileged children, 5 to 16 years old, residing in Berkat Bangsa Orphanage in Batam, Indonesia. In a two week long charity drive, we collected generous donations in terms of cash and gifts from our employees. In a pursuit to bring smiles to these children, a team of volunteers, brought with them the cash and gift donations to Batam to fulfill their wishes.

SSMC Raises S$13K Donation to Support Philippines and Myanmar Disasters' Relief Efforts

On 12 Oct, 2012, SSMC made a compassionate pledge to contribute S$13K to Red Cross to aid the disaster victims affected by Philippines Typhoon and Myanmar Cyclone. The 3 weeks collection was a success, with more than 200 employees responded to the relief appeal. Beside the donation collected from individual staff, SSMC being a socially responsible company also matched dollar-for-dollar to raise the amount from S$6.5K to S$13K.

Drawing competition in SSMC raises awareness in Environmental, Safety & Information

On 4 September, a prize-giving ceremony of the drawing competition was held at SSMC cafeteria. The sponsors of organizing committee, Collin Tan, Chee TH and Risk management staff extended their warm welcome to all participants attended the event. Mr. Jagadish was the guest of honor. He congratulated those who won the prizes and explained the importance of Environment Health and Safety, as well as Information Security Management. The prize presentation party ended at a high note with a factory tour for the children and photo-taking of children dressed in clean room gowns.

SSMC at IPFA 2012: Won 3rd Prize in "Art of FA" Contest

This year SSMC also took part in the photo contest of "Art of Failure Analysis" as part of 2012 IPFA (The International Symposium on the Physical and Failure Analysis of Integrated Circuits) program that honours engineers who have a good eye for seeing Failure Analysis as not only a subject of Science but an expression of Arts. The submission of our QRA Technicians, Sun Wan Ru & Tan Lee Koon has earned SSMC the 3rd prize in IPFA 2012 from many entries among international participants.

The 2012 Workplace Safety Health Innovation (WSHi) Winners for Manufacturing were announced at this year's WSH Innovation Awards Convention on 30 May 2012 at Spring Singapore. 2012 Beach Cleanup: SSMC Makes a Green Statement with MJC

On 19 May, a lovely cloudy Saturday morning, a Beach Cleanup event, was jointly organized by SSMC and Meridian Junior College (MJC) in Pasir Ris Beach of Singapore. With the aim to cultivate in the young minds a greater sense of responsibility towards the environment, a group of 220 volunteers were gathered, and worked to improve the Pasir Ris beach. SSMC Earns Strategic Goods Export Control – Premium Band

We are pleased to announce that SSMC has been awarded “Premium” band status, the highest amongst five bands under Singapore Customs’ Integrated Framework TradeFIRST, valid from May 2012. This award allows SSMC to ship our wafers internationally without the approval of Singapore Customs. With this achievement, SSMC’s customers can be further assured that wafer shipments are delivered at greater efficiency, and faster time-to-market at Best-in-Class export control and security standards.

Celebrating Earth Hour in SSMC

31 Mar 2012 marked the fourth consecutive year that SSMC supported the Earth Hour campaign of WWF (World Wide Fund), as we renewed our commitment to environmental conservation. The hour of “light-off” happened in offices, cafeteria, car park, which remained all that we must do what we can to reduce environmental impact; as we are making greener products for a sustainable future today.

Lorong Halus Wetland Carnival

On 24 March, in conjunction with the celebration of Singapore Water Day 2012, Deputy Prime Minister, Teo Chee Hean, announced and welcomed SSMC’s adoption of Lorong Halus Wetlands. SSMC will use its learning trail to increase environmental awareness for both among its staff and with its community partners.

SSMC TRANSFORM & NIQC Convention 2012

On 2nd March, 16 teams from various departments in SSMC engaged in a robust competition, during the annual SSMC TRANSFORM and NIQC (National Innovation and Quality Circle) convention 2012. With a unified “Passion to Win” spirit, they have improved yields; created more productive workflows and brought down costs; all activities are solidly anchored for their customers.

SSMC showed strong resilience in BCM exercise

On 24 Feb, SSMC successfully conducted a BCM (Business Continuity Management) drill responding to “Airborne Molecular Contamination in Fab”. Mr. Jagadish CV, CEO of SSMC commented, “All SSMC employees are expected to respond to the Call-of-Duty in any crisis. We must expect the unexpected and be Proactive than Reactive in all circumstances”. This exercise brings out our resilience and responsiveness.”
