SSMC’s Dinner & Dance 2024 celebrated 25 years of excellence, alongside the milestone of 13 million wafer shipments. The spectacular event held in September celebrates SSMC’s 25 year journey of transformation, unity, valued partnerships, and shared achievements. The Hollywood-themed night included outstanding performances by employees, recognition of 25-year long-service awardees, and a memorable "Yam Seng" toast.
SSMC is honored to receive the prestigious Asia Quality Innovation Award 2024 and the Certificate for Excellent Practice on Quality & Innovation at the 9th ASQFD in Hangzhou, China. During the event, SSMC’s quality framework and best practices in leadership, strategic planning, and customer-centric focus were highly praised. On 27 September 2024, SSMC attended the ceremony for Bedok NEWater Factory and Visitor Centre held by Singapore’s National Water Agency, PUB (Public Utilities Boards). Minister Grace Fu acknowledged SSMC as the first customer in 2003 to use NEWater in the wafer fab industry, playing a key role in Singapore’s water sustainability and setting a benchmark for others to follow. SSMC remains committed to ESG goals, using 100% recycled water for ultra-pure production needs, and advancing water sustainability efforts.
On August 23, 2024, SSMC hosted its annual Supplier Day, attended by 110 participants. The event highlighted ESG themes alongside Quality and Innovation, encouraging suppliers to adopt green practices. During the appreciation dinner, CEO Lim Soon shared SSMC’s vision to lead in producing high-quality wafers and to tackle climate risks by collaborating with suppliers on emissions reduction. He also recognized top suppliers for their contributions to safety and ESG excellence.
On 16 August 2024, SSMC partnered with the Singapore Red Cross Society to host a blood donation drive at work. Acknowledging the urgent need for blood donations, many employees participated, collectively saving 249 lives. This initiative emphasizes our dedication to corporate social responsibility and enriching lives. The generosity and compassion of all employees who took part helped SSMC give back to the community and make a meaningful difference.
On August 2nd, SSMC hosted visitors from UWEEI (United Workers of Electronics & Electrical Industries) for a company tour, highlighting our dedication to employee development. SSMC is committed to improving the quality and efficiency of wafer manufacturing through digital tools and remote technologies. These innovations enhance equipment reliability, engineer performance, and overall productivity, ensuring SSMC remains at the forefront of the industry and sets a strong foundation for future growth.
SSMC is featured in an article on the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) VOICE, "SSMC Tapping 3D Printing in Semiconductor Supply Chain Management for Resilience." The Business Times also published a special report highlighting innovative products made in Singapore, recognizing SSMC for producing RFID transponder chips used globally in keyless car access and theft immobilization systems.
On 30 July 2024, SSMC supported the annual Community Give Back fundraising dinner organized by North East CDC. Together with other corporate donors and individuals, the event raised S$600K to support less privileged and low-income families, as well as various NECDC assistance programs, including Project Refresh, which SSMC participated in and successfully organized. The evening underscored the power of community and SSMC’s commitment to inclusivity.
On 20 May 2024, SSMC celebrated the opening of its second link bridge, enhancing wafer lot transport between the main fab and Annex 10. Despite its complex route, the bridge was completed remarkably quickly. These systems can transport up to 300 lots per hour, cutting transportation time by 13%. This event highlights SSMC’s commitment to innovation and growth, as breakthroughs in productivity and continuous improvements are crucial in keeping SSMC competitive in the industry.
On April 6, 2024, SSMC’s SRC and NECDC collaborated to organize “Project Refresh,” where 17 volunteers spent 6 to 8 hours transforming living conditions for underprivileged families. They decluttered and painted homes, including a low-income flat and a cancer patient’s residence. Mayor of NE District Desmond Choo praised their efforts, noting the positive impact on families and the volunteers’ insights on empathy and mental health.

Honoured with the Singapore Watermark Awards 2024 on 26 March, by the Public Utilities Board (PUB), SSMC is recognised for exemplary water sustainability efforts. Through innovative operations and community engagement, SSMC leads in water conservation, setting a benchmark in the local semiconductor industry.
On 9 March 2024, during Singapore World Water Day, SSMC employees made a statement on water sustainability. The team had the honour of meeting Singapore President Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Minister for Sustainability & Environment, Ms. Grace Foo who share the passion of spreading water conservation message, “Save water. Big ways, Small ways, all OK!”

On 8 April, 2024, SSMC revealed My Place, a revamped space for manufacturing assistants. Relocated due to Fab cleanroom expansion, it offers improved amenities and emphasis on employees’ well-being. CEO Lim Soon highlighted SSMC’s dedication to a ‘great place to work,’ prioritising employee welfare for organisational success.
On March 22, SSMC collaborated with PUB to host a learning journey for Mee Toh School students at Lorong Halus Wetland, advocating clean water importance. SSMC volunteers led students through stations explaining ‘national taps’ and wetland leachate treatment. Students learned bioengineering techniques, biodiversity, and water resource preservation, fostering early water sustainability awareness.
